The mission of Zion
Preparatory Academy is to ensure academic excellence
in a loving, supportive environment where every
child receives individual attention and instruction.
Zion Prep espouses
a simple philosophy: every child is somebody to be
loved, to be taught, and to be valued as a unique
individual with their own individual gifts.
The founders' vision
was to provide an open-door policy, welcoming
children who, for lack of financial resources and/or
a nurturing support system, could not attend a
traditional private school. Zion Prep does not
require that a child pass admittance tests to be
accepted like other private schools. On the
contrary, Zion accepts every child who wants to
attend.
At Zion Prep
Academy, it is our goal to help students realize
their fullest potential, achieve personal integrity
and become responsible, contributing members of
society. To this end, Zion Prep is a school based
on standards. On the WASL and ITBS standardized
tests, our students are performing at or above the
levels of their peers.
We are very proud
that 85% of our kindergartners are reading at a 1st
grade level and the rest of our students are reading
at or above grade level. Our faculty strives to
enhance our students’ academic performance on a
daily basis. To ensure they have the tools they
need, we offer extensive teacher training.
Zion Prep's
approach includes a preschool program for one-year
olds through pre-kindergartners, an academic program
for children in kindergarten through eighth grade,
and before and after school day care beginning at 6
AM and ending at 6 PM.

Since Zion Prep's leaders believe strongly in
balancing a child's need for a solid education with
the family's need for involvement and ownership,
every family in the pre-k, elementary, and middle school
pays between $4,900 and $7,000 annually in tuition,
depending on their financial situation. This tuition
structure allows families who could not otherwise
afford a private, alternative education the chance
to provide their children the opportunity to learn
at Zion Prep. The tuition a family pays is less
than a fourth of the total cost of educating that
child, the remaining more than three-fourths comes
from Zion’s annual fund raising efforts.
We are proud of our current students as well as our
alumni. Many alumni are young adults now either
immersed in higher educational pursuits or in the
work force. They often speak on behalf of the firm
foundation they received at Zion Prep, where every
one cared and believed in them. That foundation
gave them the confidence to pursue many rewarding
challenges.
Zion Preparatory
Academy…… truly The Miracle on 32nd
Street!
